Platelet Rich Plasma
Minimally Invasive Treatment for Reducing Wrinkles (Face, Neck, Décolleté), Promoting Hair Growth and Recovery from Injury
As we age, skin becomes drier, less elastic, and thinner. Due to this breakdown of collagen and elastin fibers, it is less able to repair damage from (for example) the sun’s ultraviolet rays. PRP treatments lead to the formation of new collagen that triggers the “healing cascade.” Using tiny punctures or microneedles, the patient’s own platelet rich plasma is injected into the dermis or subdermal skin layers,. This causes mild inflammation, followed by the reconstruction and remodeling of the injured tissue.
Platelet Rich Plasma treatments are safe and effective for muscle and tendon injuries, arthritis-related pain, and joint injuries. It is becoming more common in addressing cosmetic concerns such as wrinkles, sagging skin and male/female pattern baldness. It is a minimally invasive, outpatient procedure that may require a topical anesthetic and can be completed in less than 45 minutes.
